It’s always incredibly gratifying to know that our research and development efforts are being recognized by our customers, the industries we serve and, finally, even the end users of products containing our ingredients. It’s a great pleasure to relay any positive news to the teams responsible for all the hard work and the brilliant minds that, seemingly on a daily basis, create new ideas, nurture novel concepts into existence and provide the ongoing drive and determination that enables GELITA to address the health and well-being issues of the global population and make our planet a better place to live.

In 2018, those colossal efforts have been rewarded with a bumper crop of successful nominations and awards. For example, with the global population getting older and the number of over-50s increasing in almost every country, the demand for antiaging nutritional solutions has risen sharply in recent years. FORTIBONE^® – the missing piece in bone health management — has been developed to promote bone health, increase bone density and reduce the associated age-related degradation processes.

We’re thrilled to announce that this incredible ingredient picked up no fewer than three separate awards this year, including the “Ingredient of the Year for Healthy Aging” at the Nutra Ingredients Awards, the “Most Innovative Ingredient” at Food ingredients South America and “Best Functional Ingredient” at Food Matters Live. Given that these categories often had a specific focus on “a common aging issue or risk factor,” taking home this many trophies has certainly put a spring in our step!

Away from the human health sector, you might have heard us talking about the NOVOTEC^® effect in recent months. By going from hydrophobic to hydrophilic, GELITA has developed a class of functional proteins that we hope will revolutionize industrial applications. The German Innovation Awards judges think we are on the right track and presented us with the “German Innovation Award Gold 2018” award at this year’s gala event. The competition makes outstanding achievements visible to a wide audience and ensures successful positioning in the market. We couldn’t be more proud!

Last, but certainly not least, we were recognized at the 2018/2019 Global Business Insight Awards — without actually applying — which celebrate business leadership, innovation in finance and investment … and sector success around the world. These awards endeavor to identify and celebrate those who fall within the Business Insight umbrella, whilst not forgetting the advisers who helped them get there. GELITA was extremely honored to receive the “Global Business Inside Award: Best in Collagen.”
