Talent development at GELITA: Sharing knowledge, building networks

Discovering young talents and preparing them for future roles within the organization is one of the most crucial strategic tasks for companies, especially during times of skilled labor shortages. To develop the next generation of experts and managers in production, GELITA has established the Young Professionals Network (YPN). Since 2018, more than 100 young professionals have participated in a two-year global development cycle. The focus is on imparting knowledge about the production of gelatin and collagen peptides and showcasing possible career paths.

Global experience exchange

YPN includes young people who have been hired and working at GELITA’s global locations mainly in the last 5 years. Within the network, they complete a two-year development cycle, the Young Professionals Program. The core of this program is an online academy where our experts share their knowledge with the next generation, facilitating continuous global experience exchange. Plant Managers, direct Managers, and HR Managers nominate young professionals for participation. One successful participant is Marieluise Josch, a young Process Engineer at our plant in Minden, Germany. She enthuses, “I have greatly benefited from the well-prepared and structured knowledge transfer and can apply what I’ve learned in my daily work. Gaining insights into processes at other locations, such as during my stay at our plant in Sweden, was also extremely helpful for me.”

From trainee to trainer

Marieluise Josch now shares her knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm for YPN as a trainer with her colleagues. Similarly, Renato Pivatto has progressed from trainee to trainer. The Process Engineer at our plant in Maringá, Brazil, says, “I loved meeting different people from various locations and seeing what processes they use in production. By sharing best practices, we have been able to continuously improve our own processes”. With YPN, GELITA offers its young professionals an excellent opportunity to acquire valuable knowledge, pass it on, and build their own network. After all, we all know good contacts are a crucial building block for a successful career.
